Mr. TCS Reddy, Director (Technical), GMR Industries Ltd has
been elected as the President of SISSTA (The South Indian
Sugarcane & Sugar Technologists’ Association) for the period
2008-10 at the Annual General Meeting held at Hyderabad on
5th September 2008. |

SISSTA (The South Indian Sugarcane & Sugar Technologists’
Association):
|
- SISSTA was founded in July 1967 and inaugurated by
the then Chairman of EID Parry Shri. D.C. Kothari, a
well known industrialist. He was also the first
President of SISSTA.
- Its area of operations extends over the States of
Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Orissa,
Pondicherry and Kerala.
- It has got, as on date, 2500 Life Members including
106 Corporate Members from all over the Country.
- SISSTA is also affiliated with Sugar Technologists’
Association of India, New Delhi.

- The main objectives of the Association are :
|

- To promote, facilitate and upgrade technologies
required for Sugar industry including cane cultivation,
factory technology and allied industries like
distillery, power etc.
- To continuously facilitate for improvements in
equipments for better efficiencies and better
operational convenience.
- To improve the various processes of sugar and other
bi-products manufacture.
- To conduct seminars, workshops on various subjects
relevant to the industry and hence create a platform for
exchange of technological information for betterment of
industry.
- Publishing of Journals for the benefit of
Technologists.
- To encourage and motivate Technologists and
factories, through awards for the contribution to the
industry.

- SISSTA elects a governing body with President, Vice
President and Council Members once in two years and the
governing body will be responsible for promoting the
objectives of the association.
